which publisher should i choose as a first time author?
athena press, olympia publishers or booksurge?Which is more reputable, pays bettr royalties and gets more distribution?
Each of the self-publishing outfits you name offer different agreements. It’s up to you to read the fine print and to be aware of what you’re getting into, particularly where rights are concerned. Generally speaking, the author is responsible for distribution and marketing. Self-publishing companies and vanity publishers are in the business of making money from the authors, not the sale of books, so they have nothing to gain by marketing or distributing the titles they print.
Generally, YOU pay per copy for each book that is printed. What you do with it after that is up to you. If you enter into a POD arrangement (if one is available), you will agree to their terms regarding royalties or you will negotiate new ones.
Do your research. No one here has the across-the-board experience to advise you.
