Does the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8110 series phones really need to have silicone skin covers for protection?

Hi, I just paid a decent amount for a BlackBerry Pearl 8110, and read a review in which someone stated that the exterior of the phone is easily damaged, and to get a silicone skin to cover it. Just wondering, from people who have/have had this phone, is it really necessary for me to purchase one of these? Thank you!

If you would like the phone to remain pretty, find some sort of cover whether it be a silicone, leather, or hard case. The thing is all phones scratch minor pretty easily. It will hit things in your purse, get chipped from dropping it, if you set it down on a table and it slides, or anything else. With out a case, it wont like stop working or shatter, it just won’t be all shiny or nice and smooth, it will start to get tons of minor scratches and never be as pretty as the day you got it, like a new car. Don’t get a silicone if you put it in your pocket alot because the silicone makes it very tough to put it in and pull it out of your pocket. If you randomly drop it while its in your hands and your using it, leather pouches wont save it because to use your phone, you must take the phone out of the case. I would say get a hard case, it avoids making it hard to go in and out of your pocket( like silicone) and the protection always stays on the phone( unlike leather pouch), so if you want it to remain pretty, get that pearly pearl a hard case(color of your choice)

I want to start a silicone case business but I dunno if its a good idea or not. How much would it cost to produce silicone products for mp3 players etc? Do silicone companies who just produce cases for electronics even do good in the market today? If i want to start one how do i do it ? can any one with previous experience in this industry help me out? thank you.

Skip it. Anyone with previous experience, distribution connections and the funding to start up has already done it. You’ll get killed trying to compete without experience.

It is virtually impossible to paint silicone and have it stick. You should have used black silicone. You may need to dig the clear out and add or layer black.
